The Opportunity
BBTC is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its Executive Leadership Team. Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with the Board of Directors, the CFO oversees all financial, administrative, and regulatory operations of the Cooperative.
This role is essential in ensuring financial sustainability, operational excellence, and the continued expansion of high-quality broadband services throughout the Bristol Bay region.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Financial Leadership
- Provide strategic financial leadership aligned with Board directed priorities
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance analysis
- Create financial metrics and reporting tools to guide executive decision-making
Accounting & Reporting
- Oversee accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and FCC Part 32/64 accounting rules
- Maintain strong internal controls and financial policies
Budgeting, Cash Flow & Asset Management
- Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets
- Oversee cash flow, investments, and asset management strategies
- Monitor expenditures and financial forecasts
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
- Monitor expenditures and financial forecasts
- Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
- Manage regulatory filings with FCC, USAC, IRS, and related entities
- Coordinate annual financial audits
- Ensure timely federal and state tax reporting
Leadership & Organizational Support
- Supervise, develop, and support the finance team
- Implement process and system improvements to enhance efficiency
- Serve as a financial advisor to the GM and Board of Directors
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field
- 8+ years of progressive finance leadership experience (CFO, Controller, etc.)
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience
- Strong background in GAAP accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting
- Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA certification and/or Master’s degree
- Telecommunications accounting experience, including FCC Part 32/64
- Experience with cooperatives, rural utilities, or regulated industries
- Familiarity with universal service funding and federal broadband programs
- Experience working in remote rural regions or in Alaska
Work Location
King Salmon, Alaska (Hybrid Opportunity)
BBTC is open to a hybrid work arrangement for this position. Qualified candidates may work remotely from Alaska or select Pacific Northwest locations (such as Washington or Oregon), provided they can travel to King Salmon on a regular basis, typically about once per month. Periodic travel to BBTC service communities may also be required.
