Carriers should not assume regulatory deadlines will be tolled or extended.
SUMMARY
The U.S. federal fiscal year runs from October 1 to September 30. Congress has failed to pass the appropriate funding bills by October 1, 2025, for the next fiscal year to continue to fund government operations. Therefore, non-essential federal services are shutdown until the necessary funding bills are passed.
WHAT IMPACTS ARE ANTICIPATED
Most FCC operations are considered non-essential; therefore, most rulemakings, enforcement actions, and application reviews will be delayed. However, unless the FCC specifically tolls or extends any regulatory compliance deadlines, those deadlines will remain in effect. As of now, the FCC has yet to release any such extensions via public notice.
