BDC Qualified Engineer Certification Waiver Expiration

News & Announcements

The current limited waiver has expired.

SUMMARY

On November 30, 2023, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released an Order granting the Petition to extend the limited waiver requiring a Qualified Engineer to certify the accuracy of the Broadband Data Collection (BDC) filings for another 3 filings. The affected BDC filing periods were data as of December 31, 2023, June 30, 2024, and December 31, 2024. As it stands right now (absent any future FCC action), the current limited waiver has expired and all BDC filers will need to have a Qualified Engineer certify all future BDC filings BDC Certification Requirements – BDC Help Center.

THIS WILL APPLY TO YOU IF…

  • Your are a BDC filer and do not have a Qualified Engineer to certify your BDC filings.

ACTION ITEMS & TIMELINE

  • Ensure you engage a Qualified Engineer to certify your BDC data beginning with the September 2, 2025 filing.

NEXT STEPS & VANTAGE POINT ASSISTANCE

Vantage Point Solutions (VPS) can assist, but it’s imperative that you contact us as soon as possible so we can begin collecting your network maps and relevant BDC data. VPS is unable to simply certify a BDC filing as a Qualified Engineer without receiving and reviewing all of the network mapping and pertinent network information.

If VPS has been completing your BDC filings, they are already certified by a Professional Engineer, no further action is required at this time.

Please contact the Vantage Point Solutions BDC Team at BDC@vantagepnt.com with any questions or concerns.
